I am certainly fed up receiving too many junk texts every day. Starting from my own GSM operators to telemarketing offering unwanted loans, ads for car rental, special priced Blackberry, nomer cantik, not to mention the scams. Out of nowhere, I would get a text that says please transfer the money to this account and they provided the real name!
A few months ago the trend was asking for a prepaid credits, but now it's changed to claiming that the house that I live/rent in is sold to someone or that person has seen the house I am advertising and they wanted to call, but my line was busy; so, they asked me to contact them.
Crazy, really, seriously?!! If I lived in a rented house, surely the owner would be civilized and sane enough to let me know their intention of selling the house before it's sold someone else. You don't just text someone and say, "Oh hi, sorry, we already sold the house you live, contact Mr.. bla bla.. to negotiate the agreement". I ignore all of them, I encourage you also to do the same; if you ever receive them. Replying it by cursing, swearing, won't do you any good. It's simply a confirmation that your phone number is still active and they WILL gladly spam you away in the future!
In times like these, I miss my teeny tiny Samsung, with its very nifty feature to block unwanted sms. I sold it a few years ago and bought ZTE, I forgot the type, it was a pure crap! I wish I didn't buy it. I ALWAYS had trouble whenever I restarted it, it wouldn't detect my phone book, no SIM service, nothing.
One more tip, don't give away your cellphone number too easily. Now I just give my home phone number (which has an answering machine) or my fax. Whenever I sign up for some membership, mall or a store that I'm not particularly interested in, I gave them other numbers beside my cellphone, to avoid spams. It works so far, I only get a weird stare from them, since they think I don't have a GSM number. Who cares what they think? I am the one who has to erase bazillion texts every single day. Not them!
I will update the fraud's phone numbers here in a few days, after my elbow feels better and my waist doesn't feel sore anymore.
