I fell from the stairs about a month ago. Luckily, I am still on chiropractic therapy. The Chiropractor adjusted my spine and left elbow; which made me feel very warm, almost hot, but only on my left side. He said that it is common to have that side effect, since my body is adjusting to its normal position.
Prior to the unfortunate event of sliding down the stairs, I had injured and dislocated my elbow during a Women's Self Defense training over nine years ago. Back then my mom wrapped my left elbow with lily leaf and wasp medicated oil rub, for two straight days. I felt so much better after the third day.
I can't help but wondering, if the repeated traumas on my left elbow is inflicted from an old injury many years ago.
Last Friday, I still practiced Universal Yoga, was doing Ashtangasana repeatedly. Maybe I shouldn't have attended the class, knowing that my elbow is very unstable.
Saturday-Monday, I still drove myself, but on Monday night, I did some heavy typing; which I think contributed to more elbow pain.
I went to chiropractor last Tuesday and he couldn't adjust my left elbow, since it was swollen. He said, it's elbow bursitis, fancy term, but nothing fancy about inflamed elbow. He told me to put ice over it, which I did; but didn't seem to work.
On Wednesday night, I couldn't even lift left arm! It was stuck in L position to my stomach. I had trouble sleeping properly because of that, every slight movements that I made only caused a throbbing pain to my left elbow.
Thursday morning, I soaked my left elbow with warm water + salt. It was still stiff and very much inflamed, but at least I could lift my left elbow. I am still unable to straighten it though. However, I am hopeful and optimistic that it will recover. Fingers crossed! One thing for sure; lesson learned, I need to heed the warning, whenever my body urges me stop!
On a side note, I would like to wish a happy belated birthday to my dear friend, Julie, she passed away on February 26th, 2012. Her birthday is July 25th. Julie was such a caring person, funny, smart; she taught me math, very patient, all throughout my friendship with her, we have never quarreled not even once. I didn't get the chance to know her for long, but we were classmates in junior high. We had always wanted to meet up along with her besties, but now will never happen. Rest in peace in your eternal slumber, Julie. You are always remembered and missed so dearly.
