Circle of Life

Only when the night creeps in
When guests are no longer in sight
Foot steps no longer audible
Would I notice the emptiness
Where you once were
The warmth of your presence
Your laughter echo in my heart

Ouchie!

I finally went to a masseur yesterday. I have always been reluctant to go to one, since I have heard how painful their massage might get. I wasn't going to some fancy, relaxing massage spa; but it's the healing kind.

My brother was very convincingly persuasive, "It won't hurt", he said. OK, it's not painful, I might as well try; I have been having this elbow bursitis for too long now.

Elbow Bursitis

I fell from the stairs about a month ago. Luckily, I am still on chiropractic therapy. The Chiropractor adjusted my spine and left elbow; which made me feel very warm, almost hot, but only on my left side. He said that it is common to have that side effect, since my body is adjusting to its normal position.

Prior to the unfortunate event of sliding down the stairs, I had injured and dislocated my elbow during a Women's Self Defense training over nine years ago. Back then my mom wrapped my left elbow with lily leaf and wasp medicated oil rub, for two straight days. I felt so much better after the third day.

Ramadhan Kareem

I always look forward to Ramadhan and Eid al-Fitreven though I am not a Moslem. I remember when I was young, my mom used to make kolak pisang (banana compote); a sweet soupy dessert made with palm sugar, coconut milk, pandan leaves, slices of banana, sweet potatoes and the best part is kolang kaling (sugar palm fruit). Sometimes, I added a good chunk of bread there - I know I can be weird at times .

Thumb Wars

I found this befitting description from here, that I pasted below:
“For a few minutes everybody is typing away. A silence falls over the group and we all engage in a mass thumb-wrestling competition between man and little machine. Then the moment passes, the BlackBerrys and iPhones are reholstered, and we return to being humans again after a brief trance.”
