"Honesty is hardly every heard
And mostly what I need from you..."
- Honesty, Billy Joel
Disappointment is part of life, every one at one point in our life will disappoint us, we will disappoint someone whether we realize it or not. The lesson can be valuable if we learn something from that disappointment; otherwise, we're bound to repeat the same mistake all over again.
I guess we feel disappointed because there is expectation; if there are no expectations, there wouldn't be any disappointments. But, I can't imagine life without any expectations. I wouldn't feel disappointed if I didn't care about the person, but when there's a bond, it's a different story.
Sincerity, trust, mutual understanding, good communication; those are the basis of friendship, it can't exist without the other. Without communication, there wouldn't be friendship. What is the point of having a best friend if they don't trust you?
Best friends stay through thick and thin, they are the ones who give you honest opinions; which you may not like. When they are reluctant to share their story because they are afraid of you; either because they don't want to bother you with the same problem over and over again, or simply because they don't feel comfortable talking to you anymore. The latter one sure sucks.
I am sorry if my bluntness hurts your feeling, but I am not sorry for being honest.
